    Quoting  :

I ran into the same sort of thing when I got married to my ex. her being with child, no matter that we'd been engaged for over a year. Didn't sit well with my soon to be mother in law, she insisted her daughter not wear a white wedding gown...Can we say drama? A compromise was made that she wear a purple sash ( the ex's favorite color) around her waist so as not to be all in white. The father in law to be refused to go get fitted for his tux, insisting that he be allowed to wear "his" tux and that he was already spending too much on this thing ( meaning the wedding)...yeah a throw back to the nineteen sixties lime green number complete with ruffled blue shirt. No matter that the tux place where we rented from was holding a special, where if all the grooms men rented their tuxes from them the fathers of the groom and the bride both got their rentals free.

Then to top it all off, the in laws didn't go to the wedding rehearsal opting to attend a play they had tickets too instead. During the walk down the aisle my ex asked my Dad to stand in for her own father who had snubbed her. My dad who would never have the honor to do the same for his own daughter, the apple of his eye. My sister having passed on only a year before. Well the old man had tears streaming down his face during that rehearsal walk, but a big smile on his lips as well. At the rehearsal dinner after wards my in laws to be arriving after the dinner and drinks ( of which there were many) Told my soon to be father in law off , in an oh so nice and polite way how it was such an honor to stand in for him at the rehearsal. Making him feel like the idiot he was.
